Below is my in class writing talking about my (E) dentity versus my Identity

I am a person that is very happy with where I am in life. I always work hard and try to keep patient with people. I enjoy being enthusiastic about learning. I feel that those ten words describe my identity fairly well I am glad about most of the things that make up my Identity because they are good traits.

Those ten words describe my (E) dentity because I use the internet to check sports scores, look for and buy golf equipment. Also a large part of my (E) dentity is based around school which means writing papers and doing presentations. I also occasionally will use the internet to communicate with my friends and check the news.

Differences

My Identity seems very different from my (E) dentity in several ways. But I think the most prominent is that my Identity is more about who I am as a person and those traits that I have. While my (E) dentity is more about the things that I do

Journal #2

In class this week we were assigned to read articles out of the book (E) dentity now the first article discussed our “(E) dentitys". This article discussed some of the things that go on with being an internet dependent society. It included talking about things like how ads now know where you have been so that they may be able to predict what you are interested in. Also it talked about how everywhere we go on the internet we are leaving traces behind about what we have been doing. In my opinion the internet is a very valuable resource but it is one that can be overused in some aspects. Many things these days are out on the internet and they are very useful for us but it is easy to get sidetracked on the internet. With this comes the big problem of kids not going outside to play but rather go play a computer game.

As that problem emerges there is only one way that I see us turning this around and that is get kids excited about hobbies. For me I have always loved sports so I have tried to play them as much as I can but even with that I will occasionally catch myself getting sidetracked on the Internet. So parents need to try to not only monitor time spent on electric devices but also encourage their kids to take up hobbies that don’t have to do with video games or the television. I think through this we will be able to establish a (E) dentity without it becoming our identity. 

Journal #1

My journal today is about the World Cup. As we all know the U.S. has advanced to the round of 16. Despite being in the "Group of Death" the U.S. was able to beat Ghana and tie with Portugal to be able to advance. But the U.S. did end up losing their final game to Germany 1-0 which was unfortunate. As I hope for the U.S. to win the world cup, because I'm an American, I really don't see it happening. The U.S. will have to beat some very good teams to be able to even have a shot at the title, some of which include Belgium and possibly Argentina. But I hope for the best and maybe we will see a U.S. team win a World Cup in the future.

In another interesting story that is buzzing around with the World Cup is the Luis Suárez incident. So basically what happened is that the Uruguayan striker bit an Italian defender for no apparent reason. Now FIFA has taken action and banned Suárez for 9 International games. So as Uruguay advanced into the round of 16 they knew it would be difficult because they were playing without one of their best players and against a very good Colombia team. As the World Cup continues I know it will have some more drama to go with it. So I sincerely hope everyone has some fun watching it unfold.

Introduction

Hello everybody, my name in Jonathan Shepherd and this blog will be about just life in general. I am writing this blog because it is part of an assignment for the English class I am currently in. As for me, I am an avid sports player and I will play just about anything but I am best at golf and basketball. I enjoy my current job working as a cart boy at the local golf course and I am always willing to try new sports. Well that's a little about me and this blog.
